The UHSSE Hawks baseball team is hitting its stride as the season moves forward, with players and coaches feeling increasingly confident about their chances. After a challenging start, the team has begun to gel, showing improvement and resilience.
Senior Jackson Marchetti, who plays right field, shared his thoughts on the team’s growth. “The team has been improving at a great rate. At the beginning of the year, we had a hard time getting in the groove of things, but now things are going smoothly,” he said. For Jackson, right field is more than just a position—it’s a familiar place where he feels at home. “I enjoy right field a lot. It’s a position I like to call my home because I’ve been there for a lot of my life.”
Senior Jovic De León Cruz is also feeling positive about the team’s progress. “We’re on track for qualifying for our conference playoffs and possibly states,” he said. This is a significant achievement for the Hawks, especially after facing early-season challenges.
Sophomore Ben Ochiogrosso brought a youthful perspective, but with just as much confidence. “I’m feeling pretty good about where the team stands. We’re going to be the 2-seed for the playoffs, which is a pretty solid spot to be in,” he said. Playing catcher and third base, Ben has already made an impact. He highlighted two standout games this season against Innovation and Parish Hill, showcasing the team’s competitive edge.
The team’s growing momentum has boosted their confidence, and players are starting to see their hard work pay off. With the possibility of making it to the conference playoffs and even the state tournament, the Hawks are determined to keep pushing forward.
As the season continues, UHSSE baseball is focused on staying sharp, maintaining strong team chemistry, and making a memorable run in the playoffs. With players like Jackson and Jovic leading the way, the Hawks are ready to show what they’re truly capable of.
