This year’s softball season has been a great one!
The team faced some tough games in the beginning, but they worked hard and got better as the season went on. Assistant Coach Nicole Silenok said, “Earlier in the season we struggled defensively, basically beating ourselves in games we should have won. But we worked hard to fix those things, and now we’ve seen a lot of improvement.”
Even though the team had some challenges, their effort never stopped. “Coach and I are happy with the effort the girls bring to every practice and game,” said Coach Silenok. “That’s because the upperclassmen lead by example and show the others how it’s done.”
One of the best moments of the season was Senior Night against Prince Tech. “That was the best game we’ve played all season,” Coach Silenok said. “Our pitcher from Classical threw strikes all game, our defense was great, and we only allowed one run.”
Senior Grishma Jampal Sudharshanan also said Senior Night was her favorite game. “Our pitcher Sofia threw only 4 pitches in one inning, and we got 3 outs! Every time we went up to bat, we were like firecrackers, super aggressive and ready to score,” she said.
Another senior, Radhika Thaker, said the season helped them grow a lot. “We’re not undefeated like last year, but we played harder teams, and that made us better,” she said. “Senior Night was the best game in all my four years. We had strong defense and scored 16 runs to 1!”
Jampal Sudharshanan said she’s proud of the way the upperclassmen set an example. “We try to be role models and show what full effort looks like. That helps the whole team do their best.” She said she’ll miss the family feeling of the team and hopes to play softball in college, even if it’s just for fun.
Thaker hopes the team keeps getting better next year and that everyone gives 100% in practice, because that makes a difference in games. She said she’ll miss the energy of the team and might even join a club team in the future.
Both seniors had advice for new players: “Be ready to work hard and commit,” said Jampal Sudharshanan. “It’s not about cheating to win—it’s about improving your skills and showing responsibility.” Thaker added, “Your effort and your willingness to improve are what help you succeed.”
This season wasn’t perfect, but it was full of growth, teamwork, and unforgettable memories!
