The 2024 volleyball team at University High School of Science and Engineering consists of a variety of hard working, aspiring young ladies who strive to build their skills on the volleyball court. Their coach, Carson Dunn, coaches both Varsity and Junior Varsity (JV) and is trying to lead them to success and prepare them for future games at a higher level.
Starting off the season, the volleyball team has a lot of practice to prepare for their upcoming opponents. Alas, when the time came to play on the court, they had a rocky start but soon started winning games: Varsity has won four games and JV has won two. And hopefully more to come soon!
The girls have tried their best to show off the best of their abilities on the court and fight together; even if mistakes are made, they try to keep their heads up. “I say that I’m not just playing to win for me, I’m also playing to win for our team. It’s a team effort, and you have to think about how everyone feels, and if you quit, you’re letting everyone down, not just yourself” said Julia Barry ‘28.
In conclusion, the UHSSE volleyball team, under the guidance of Coach Dunn, is demonstrating remarkable resilience and teamwork. Despite a challenging start, both the Varsity and JV teams have shown significant progress with their recent victories. The players’ dedication to improving their skills and their commitment to supporting one another on and off the court is evident. As they continue to practice and grow, the team is poised for even greater success in future games, embodying the spirit of perseverance and unity.
