With just under 2 weeks left until graduation, the University High School seniors have made their plans for what they are going to do after high school ends. Many of our seniors are seeming to be experiencing a bit of nostalgia and thinking back on their memories of high school and their senior years.
When we asked Isabella D’Agostino ‘25 how she was feeling as graduation approaches, she shared, “I am so nervous as graduation approaches. But at the same time I’m excited. I am really happy to be on to new places but so sad to leave all the people.” Fellow senior Aurpa Shamsul ‘25 echoed this sentiment, saying, “As graduation is approaching, it’s a very bittersweet feeling. I’m very excited to be moving on to college and getting a step closer to my dream of becoming a physician assistant but, I am going to miss all of my friends and teachers and cherish the memories I made here! These four years went by very fast.”
Our seniors are going to a variety of different schools; some close and some far. The variety of majors is also far and wide. We have seniors majoring in different fields like broadcast journalism, health sciences, mechanical engineering, fashion merchandising, computer science, nursing, psychology, chemistry, aerospace engineering, animal sciences, finance, and more.
When talking with the seniors, they all had different memories that they cherished the most. Ryleigh White ‘25 stated, “Senior year sort of went by in a blur. Every day was equally as enjoyable as the next.” Many of the seniors could agree with this, but others highlighted moments like the charity volleyball event, robotics competitions, the UConn ECE boat race, and other events.
Many seniors had advice for the underclassmen. Liam McCusker ‘25 suggested, “Advice to underclassmen would be make sure to get involved and join a sport/club because that is part of the high school experience and it will allow you to make friends.” Clubs are a very large and important part of UHSSE, so underclassmen should try to get involved. Emmet Spaeth ‘25 suggested, “Be brave, don’t fear the unknown. Dictate what you do. Choose for yourself.”
Many of our seniors feel that they were very well prepared for their futures. Abhijith Tippireddy ‘25 said, “I feel UHSSE has prepared me a lot for college. The partnership and rigor allowed me to get used to a college setting early on. The various clubs also let me gain leadership experience. Thanks to UHSSE, I was able to get into the 2nd best college in the world for biomedical engineering (Georgia Tech), which is a huge deal and definitely something I wasn’t expecting in my freshman year but was made possible thanks to the opportunities UHSSE provided.”
To the UHSSE Class of 2025: Congratulations! You made it. Whether you’re excited, nervous, or somewhere in between, the next chapter is yours to write. Good luck on your future endeavors. You’ve got this.
