What is the hiking club?
The hiking club is available to all students as an extracurricular activity to get out and enjoy nature, learn about nature, get some exercise, and have fun with friends. The hiking club members help to plan the events.
Frequently asked questions and answers from the hiking club!
How many people attended? “It was a beautiful day for a fall hike! We hiked about 3 miles at Session Woods in Burlington. The foliage/leaves were a little past peak, and with the dry weather many had already fallen, but we had a great day!” said magnet coordinator/marine science teacher/hiking club advisor Caryn Baseler.
How was the hike? “There were seven students, 1 parent, and 3 teachers on our hike.”
Can people still join, and who should they talk to? “New students are welcome! We do not have any winter hikes planned, but keep an eye out come March to join our spring hikes!” said Mrs. Baseler.
You can see Mrs. Baseler in Room 325 or Dr. Sousa-Pena in Room 219 for more information.
Did they enjoy hiking at the sessions? “Everyone had a nice day hiking Session Woods, climbing the fire tower to get a view of the foliage and area mountains, having lunch at the waterfall (which was more of a trickle with the dry weather we have been having), and we topped it off with ice cream at a nearby stand on the way home,” said Mrs. Baseler.
What do they enjoy the most about the club? Students enjoy nature, having new experiences, and having fun with their friends.
