At UHSSE recently we have had a pajama day on Friday, December 13th, hosted by the National Honor Society. Overall, UHSSE has raised close to $400 for this cause. This fundraiser was to raise funds for the Connecticut Children’s Hospital’s cancer department. This was a statewide day of participation, as you can do this any day of the school year, and a lot of schools like to participate on the 13th, the official state-recognized day. This tradition started about 3 years ago in our school.
You all might be wondering if we have to participate and how this even started?
No, not everyone has to participate in this; the hospital advertises this day to the public, letting the communities decide if they want to participate in it. This started at this school as a couple of years ago a kid at your school had cancer and it was important for our school to raise awareness on this topic.
Now you also might be wondering how we did and if we will be having future dress down days.
Overall, 99% of the students wore appropriate clothing, and many kids were able to fix their dressing. For future dress down days, it is up to the administrators, but we are hoping to still continue and hope it can go as good as this year went.
