The UHSSE Swim Team has had an amazing start to the 2024–2025 swim season. When Nayeli Figueroa ’26 reflected on the journey so far, she expressed her thoughts on the team’s success, her own objectives, and the meets she is most looking forward to.
“The swim season for 2024–2025 has gotten off to a fantastic start,” she remarked. “In addition to being able to form new relationships and friendships with recently recruited team members, I am really proud to be able to observe my colleagues from the previous season and their progress from that season to this one. observing how they have significantly improved overall since the beginning of the season. All of us are simply doing what we love, which is swimming as best we can.”
This season has been especially significant for Figueroa. She is excited to be swimming regularly again after missing the majority of the 2023–2024 season due to an injury. “My objectives for this swim season are to continue swimming until the end,” she disclosed. “I am excited because we are almost at the end of the swimming season and I am still swimming, even though I was injured last year and missed most of it.”
Figueroa has already experienced a few outstanding moments during meetings and is eager for more. “I was mostly excited about the Buckley Relay and getting to take part this year from the beginning. It was a lot of fun, and it hasn’t gone away,” she remarked. “At the moment, I am excited for our all-girls meet, which is held outside of the regular season and is exclusively for the girls on the team who currently play in the boys’ season.”
Figueroa and her teammates keep pushing themselves, acknowledging their development, and savoring the camaraderie that makes the UHSSE Swim Team so unique as the season goes on. The team is creating waves in and out of the pool thanks to their perseverance and passion for their sport.
