As the UHSSE Hawks prepare for another baseball season, players and coaches are gearing up for what they hope will be a successful and memorable run. With a strong focus on teamwork, leadership, and motivation, the team is ready to take on the challenges ahead.
For senior Isaiah Franklin, this season is all about making the most of every moment. “I’m most excited about going against our rivals one last time and the energy those games bring,” he said. As a senior, Franklin’s personal goal is to “have as much fun and make the most memories possible” in his final year with the team. He also values the camaraderie that baseball fosters. “What I enjoy most about playing baseball is the team and having a bunch of people who will always have your back.”
Jovic De León Cruz ’25, another key player for the Hawks, is looking forward to making a big impact on the field. “I’m most excited to win the conference and make a huge impact on the team,” he said. His focus is on working hard and hustling on every play, no matter what. “I want to be the best teammate I possibly can be by leading,” he added.
Both players emphasize the importance of staying motivated throughout the long season. Franklin keeps his drive alive by reminding himself that every day is an opportunity to improve. “Even if I have a bad game, there’s always tomorrow,” he said. De León Cruz stays locked in by remembering the team’s goals and leaning on his teammates for support. “The sport brings people closer to each other, and it’s truly amazing to experience,” he said.
With a determined mindset and a strong bond among teammates, the UHSSE Hawks are set to take on the season with passion and resilience. As they work toward their goals, one thing is certain: they’ll be giving it their all every step of the way.
