Despite UHSSE having many clubs during the activity block, the newest edition is Key Club! Key Club is a club centered around helping people, volunteering, and giving back to your community. This club was officially started back in January of 2025 by Marcel Reid ‘26. When we asked Reid why Key Club was started, he said, “I’ve always wanted to start a club at UHSSE. It’s been my motive for quite some time now. I loved the idea of having tons of service hours while searching for club ideas, and I came across Key Club.”
Anyone is still more than welcome to join Key Club. Reid said, “Of course students can still join. We are not certified as an official key club nationally, but that’s why we are trying to fundraise and find sponsors to help us be recognized nationally.” Key Club is a very big club nationally that wants to focus on helping people and the community. Key Club is more than just a club. As an overview of a key club meeting, Reid said, “We right now go over many things, as we want to help and serve the people. We are planning future things to come, especially for April, hopefully. But we are currently working closely together to start fundraising and finding organizations that we can dedicate our time to, to go help them and donate stuff as well.” There were many goals for the key club.
If you want to help with fundraising or want to get more involved in your community, Key Club is a great way to get involved, meet new people, and make new friends. We asked Reid what his goals were for Key Club and he said, “When starting Key Club, I had a mindset that I wanted all of us in the club to be a team. I want all of us to build a strong bond with one another. I want this club to be recognizable as a dependent group of people who are willing to help no matter what.”
Key Club meets on selective Mondays in Mrs. Bocharova’s room. If you are interested, please make sure to join the Google Classroom!
