Students at UHSSE often wonder why the elevator isn’t available for use during the day unless you have a pass from the nurse.
Here’s what UHSSE Principal Sean Tomany has to say about this:
“Safety is my number one priority,” said Mr. Tomany. “Students are only allowed to use the elevator if they have a pass from the nurse with a valid reason for needing the elevator. If other students try to sneak in without a pass, the consequences can be severe. The pass can be revoked, and the student may be required to walk up and down the stairs with either Ms. Todisco or myself. It’s important for everyone to remember that there are always consequences for breaking the rules. The only time students should be using the elevator without a pass is when accompanied by security or a member of the administration.”
Allowing unrestricted use if the elevator could create challenges for students who absolutely need to use it. By enforcing the elevator usage policy, UHSSE ensures that these students have access to it when they need it. As Principal Tomany notes, safety and fairness are top priorities, and following the rules helps to maintain an environment where everyone’s needs are respected.
