Although the University High School and Classical softball team has only played one game so far this season, it’s off to a great start. When talking to Coach Nicole Silenok, she said, “The season has been good so far – we have only had 1 game and got to see a lot of what’s been in the works for some time now. We still have a lot to improve on moving forward, but we got a good result for our first game.” Improvement is a key idea when it comes to sports or learning. These students are learning even outside of the classroom.
The whole team is very excited about playing against the Academy of Computer Science. Coach Silenok said, “They were the team that we beat in the championship game only by 2 runs. They always put up a good battle every year. We are also excited to play some stronger teams out of the conference (Wilcox Tech, New Britain, and Portland).” When talking to Isabella D’Agostino ‘25, she said, “I am definitely excited to play some difficult teams. In addition to Comp Sci, we play them every year, and they have some intense energy, which always makes the game interesting.” This is looking to be a very good season for the team, and we hope to see them do well!
When we asked D’Agostino what she would miss most about being on the team, she said, “I am going to miss playing my favorite sport. I am also going to miss everyone there. We have a really great environment that we have created, and it is wonderful to be in.” With teamwork and determination, there’s no limit to what this team can achieve. Good luck out there!
