After 4 years of amazing work, University High School’s senior Safia Ali has been awarded a full-ride scholarship to the University of Hartford. Safia was invited by the University of Hartford to apply to their scholarship competition. This scholarship for her is a really big deal. Safia said, “It felt incredibly surreal to be selected for this scholarship. I had signed up on a whim when I got an email offer, hoping for the best but not really preparing for it.” Over 400 accepted UHart students were invited to apply for this scholarship, but only a handful were selected.
This scholarship is really prestigious, and Safia absolutely deserves it! For her, this scholarship will only cover tuition. One of Safia’s top priorities in deciding on a college was finding a school that would take her already acquired credits. When we asked what motivated her to apply to UHart, she said, “I currently have about 54 credits, half of which are from UHART. It’s incredibly important for me that those credits get transferred, and so going to a university that would transfer them was one of my top priorities when applying to colleges.”
Safia has many plans for college besides studies. She is majoring in biology, specifically the pre-med track. We asked Safia about her goals for college and she said, “I wasted a lot of time in high school, and my college goal is to rectify that. I plan on picking up my violin again, reading more books, enjoying the sunshine, and baking a lot more.” The UHSSE Times would like to say congratulations to Safia, and we wish her the best of luck in college!
