The National Honors Society at UHSSE has already started off the year with some exciting plans. Their first meeting took place on September 12th, and students are ready to take on new projects and events.
Their first NHS event of the year is volunteering at the Hartford Marathon. Members will be helping out at the water stations and cheering on the runners. This is something the club has done for years and everyone is excited since it’s big event.
This year NHS leaders want members to get more involved. President Mojeb R. Zameeri ‘25 said that in the past, members had ideas but didn’t really take action. To fix that, each member will now pick something they really care about and then the groups will vote on which ones to support. This way everyone has a chance to lead something they’re passionate about.
Zameeri shared his personal goal is to make sure everyone’s voices are heard. He said “leadership isn’t just about the officers making plans, but about helping other members become leaders too. I’m really hoping to see more creativity and ideas from everyone this year.”
NHS is off to a great start, with these new ideas and including everyone’s voice, it looks like this will be one of the best years yet!
