Softball team shakes slump, wins four straight

University/classical softball ball team is still holding on to there victorious  record of 7-3(6-3 in our conference)

First Base Isabella D’ Agostino ’25 says “My favorite thing about softball this year is. The first one is that I get to play a sport that I love and have been playing since I was very young. In addition, it has introduced me to so many new people that I am now friends with”

After dropping two games earlier in the month, the team has won their last three games including a sweep of a doubleheader against Innovation on May 3.

“Goals is to continue to stay disciplined through practices and games  which would help us reach our goals of being better as a team overall, were expecting to hopefully be in the top 3 for conference and make the conference playoff” said  Assistant Coach Silenok

Conference tournaments would begin in the week of  May 22

Utility player Alexa Neil ‘25 “My favorite thing about softball is that I love the team aspect, if we ever need something I could always go to them and ask them for help if I have a problem”

“ My Goal/expectations are to improve as a player, and pitcher and hopefully get a home run said Neil ‘25 also uses softball to become more of a positive person which is helping”

Teams ahead of University/Classical in the conference standings is  Comp Sci/Aerospace 8-0,Parish Hill 4-1 and Weaver 5-3, these are three teams that they  have lost so far

“Some girls that have stood out this season is Amerie Rielle ‘25 this is her first year playing softball, she started from jv and worked her way up all the way to varsity within a few weeks, she plays offense for us and she is the only one on the team that slaps for us, Isabella D’ Agostino ’25 her hitting has improved tremendously science  last year Said Assistant Coach Silenok  as well as the other players radhika Thaker ‘25 and Grishma Jampal ‘25, newcomers Ridima Khatiwada ’26, Brianna Torres,26,Alexa Neil ’26 and Nsyeli Figueroa’26”

This will be an important week coming up they  play Parish Hill again on May 8 and Weaver on May 9. They  play Comp Sci again on May 15.

“One of my major goals is to be able to hit a home run this year said D’ Agostino ’25   I am also expecting that we make it pretty far into conference and the state tournament”

“Head Coach Diaz and Assistant Coach Silenok have helped me improve over the past years as me player softball  Said Neil ‘25 they have helped me improve my hitting and also mental, helped me realize that I need to just let go of any mistakes I’ve had and just play the next play as best as I can”

The next game is an away game on Monday, May 10 at Parish Hill.
