The University / Classical Baseball team had been stepping it up with a record of 7 wins and 6 losses this far in the season. This is all thanks to the two hardworking coaches, Nicholas Vavalle (University) James Gorss (Classical). So far, they are first place in the league and continue to grow with skill and strength. Coach Vavalle believes the most improved player is Jovic DeLeon-Cruz ’25. He hopes he’ll keep up the hard work!
“The new coach James Gorss has been doing a great job increasing the program and strengthening all the players’ skills.” said Athletic Director Anthony Mucciaro.
“I worked with Coach Miller before this and I am just building off of what he started,” said Coach Gorss. “This has been easier because of him. It was all Miller, he started the foundation”.
The team coaches have many goals for the season. “We hope to make it to the CRAL championships and make it past the first round of states,” said Coach Vavalle. One goal that the team has accomplished, according to Coach Gorss, is being better on and off the field. He believes that everyone on the team has accomplished the goal of being better not only as an individual but as a team player. One area where the team works together seamlessly is in both games and when they are practicing. The more the players know that know each other the more comfortable with each other they will be. This will result in them working together better.
We are excited to see what the University/Classical baseball team accomplishes this season!
