UHSSE junior Kyon Wynter (56) has come up big for the TigerHawks.

The football team that is co-oped with SMSA has a great winning streak of 5-0, which is their best start in the team’s history. They are currently ranked second out of 23 teams statewide in the MM class. Players feel that it is very likely they will win the conference championship and go to states. Nathaniel Reid ‘24 is “very confident in [the team] winning a state title this year.”

So far, the varsity team has beaten Granby/Canton 21-14, Rockville 7-6, Coventry/Windham Tech/Bolton/Lyman 45-0, Ellington 34-12, and most recently on Friday, Oct. 7, they beat North Brandford 34-12.

Beating Rockville was incredible due to the fact that they were runner-up for the state title last year.

With the frontline including players like, Kyon Wynter ’24 and Ife Oluborode ’24, winning the state title will be very possible.

University High School wishes the football team good luck with the rest of their season and making it to states.
